Email spam. We all hate it.
But, unfortunately, too many of us have accepted spam as a way of life. No matter what we do, we are constantly bombarded with undesired, and sometimes dangerous, emails.
First and foremost, if you receive a spam email, delete it. Don’t open it. Don’t read it. And for goodness sake, don’t click on anything!!!
Honestly, it’s OK if you don’t read every email in your inbox. Your brain is full of other wonderful items. You don’t need the additional clutter.
With that out of the way, how do we protect ourselves from this onslaught of spam? And we do need protection. Phishing emails are one of the most popular ways for hackers to get to your data.
Microsoft 365 includes many features that help organizations protect their team from undesired emails. After migrating to Microsoft 365, our customers regularly experience a significant reduction in spam. If you’re having problems with spam and you’re not on Microsoft 365, the first thing you need to do is switch.
Microsoft 365 possesses all the tools needed to reduce the amount of spam your team receives. Microsoft 365 evaluates the sender’s reputation before allowing a message to get through and then checks the email for characteristics consistent with spam. Microsoft 365 works in conjunction with DNS-based email validation techniques such as SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. Advanced spam tools such as those included with Microsoft 365 Business Premium scans all email attachments and hyperlinks to identify malicious threats.
The spam filter settings in Microsoft 365 are customizable. Organizations can increase or decrease spam sensitivity as required. Spam management is performed within the Office 365 Admin portal along with all Office 365 configuration management. No 3rd party service is needed, and no separate management console is required.
If you are a small to medium sized organization and need relief from the onslaught of spam, we recommend that you make the switch to Microsoft 365. You will also want to engage a technology consultant to configure your spam protection properly. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact CMA Technology at 706-860-1997. We will be happy to review your current environment and make sure your business technology is operating in the green!
